Privacy Policy
BordeauxGo is a guide to the wines, producers and appellations of Bordeaux, published by [Publisher name] ("we"). This policy explains what information the BordeauxGo apps for iPhone and Android collect, why, and the choices you have.
In short: BordeauxGo has no accounts and never asks for your name, email, contacts, photos or location. Your favorites and tasting notes stay on your device. To keep the app working and improve it, we collect anonymous usage statistics and crash reports, tied to random identifiers rather than to you.
Information that stays on your device
Your favorites, tasting notes, filter history and display settings are stored only on your device, and we never receive them. If you back up your device with iCloud Backup or Android backup, they may be included in that backup, which Apple or Google holds under your own account.
Usage statistics
We use PostHog, an analytics service, to learn which parts of the app are used. When you use the app, it sends events such as app opened, screen viewed and feature used. Each event carries a random identifier created when the app is installed, plus device and app details: model, operating system version, app version, language and time zone.
We don't attach your name, email or any account to these events. We don't record your screen, and we don't collect what you type, including searches and tasting notes. We have set PostHog to discard IP addresses.
Crash reports
We use Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service, to find and fix crashes. When the app crashes, it sends a report with the error details, the app's state at the time and device details such as model, operating system version and free memory. Each report carries a random Crashlytics installation identifier. We do not use Google Analytics for Firebase.
Information you send us
If you email us, for example through the feedback link in the app, we receive your email address and message. We use them only to reply to you.
Maps
BordeauxGo doesn't ask for or use your location. On Android, maps are drawn by the Google Maps SDK. Google receives device details, your IP address, a Maps-specific identifier and map interactions such as panning and zooming, under Google's privacy policy. On iPhone, maps come from Apple Maps under Apple's privacy policy.
How we use information
We use the information above only to run the app, fix crashes and decide what to improve. We don't sell it, show ads or track you across other apps and websites.
Service providers
PostHog, Inc. (usage statistics) and Google (crash reports) process this information for us as service providers, on servers in the United States. They may use it only to provide their services to us.
How long we keep it
Crashlytics deletes crash reports after 90 days. PostHog keeps usage statistics for up to [1 year / 7 years]. We keep feedback emails for as long as needed to answer them.
Your choices and rights
Deleting the app removes its data from your device, and a reinstall starts with new random identifiers. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access or delete information about you. Because our usage statistics and crash reports aren't linked to your name or email, we usually can't tell which records are yours. Email us and we'll help where we can.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, we rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the app stable and useful to process usage statistics and crash reports.
Children
BordeauxGo is about wine and is meant for adults of legal drinking age. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above. If a change affects what we collect, we'll say so in the app or its store listing.
